It seems that UK electrical retailer Comet decided to help out their customers by supplying copies of the Windows installation discs with the PCs that they sold. But according to Microsoft, these copies were made illegally. <o:p></o:p></span></span></p> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-bookmark:fb_share'><span style='font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"'><br> Consequently, Microsoft is now suing Comet, claiming they have been making a profit from fake Windows discs. Microsoft associate general counsel David Finn said in a statement &quot;As detailed in the complaint filed today, Comet produced and sold thousands of counterfeit Windows CDs to unsuspecting customers in the United Kingdom&quot;. However, Comet has responded by saying &quot;Comet firmly believes that it acted in the very best interests of its customers&quot;. So, it s looking like it will be up to the courts to decide whether it is ok for a PC retailer to supply Windows installation DVDs with the machines they sell (after all, the customer has bought a valid Windows licence with the machine).
